Regular exercise presents many benefits to a society that suffers from an epidemic of obesity and chronic illnesses. Elements of exercise and safety guidelines are presented to empower people to implement exercise into their daily habits.


The goal of this physical activity/exercise continuing education program is to provide nurses, dietitians, dietary managers, school nutritionists, fitness professionals, health educators and respiratory therapists with current physical activity/exercise guidelines for healthy adults. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Describe the benefits of physical activity/exercise
  • Discuss the four elements of an exercise prescription
  • List exercise safety guidelines

This course is intended for an interprofessional audience, including nurses, nursing assistants, dietitians, dietary managers, school nutritionists, fitness professionals, health educators and respiratory therapists.
